Address by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the Entry into Force of the New Constitution of Kazakhstan

Dear compatriots!

Dear compatriots!

I wholeheartedly congratulate you on a truly epoch-making event — the entry into force of our country's New Constitution!

Today a new era begins in the history of sovereign Kazakhstan. We are setting out on the main road of steady progress, political and economic reform and large-scale modernisation.

This day marks a fundamental restructuring of the political system and the transformation of the key institutions of the state and civil society.

At the nationwide referendum on 15 March, the people of Kazakhstan made a momentous choice that has defined the country's development horizons for many decades ahead. This historic decision will forever remain in the chronicle of our country as a vivid example of genuine patriotism and the high civic responsibility of millions of our compatriots.

It is deeply symbolic that Constitution Day is now inseparably linked with the start of the Nauryznama decade. This landmark date harmoniously unites the centuries-old traditions of spring renewal with the fundamental principles of the New Basic Law — the pursuit of civic solidarity, advanced knowledge and conscientious work for the good of the Motherland.

I am convinced that, relying on the unshakable legal foundation of a truly nationwide Constitution, we will certainly achieve all our goals and establish in society the constructive values of Law and Order, Diligence and Progress, Cleanliness and Love of Nature.

United in an unbreakable monolith of national unity, we will surely reach the heights of world civilisation and build a Just Kazakhstan — a state of equal opportunities and comprehensive development for every citizen without exception!

I am confident in the ultimate success of our plans, which lead to the prosperity of our Fatherland.

Long live the Republic of Kazakhstan!

Long live our people!
