Address by the Chairman of the Management Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC
Our path to safety
Our path to safety
As we begin a new working year, every employee of the KazMunayGas group of companies (hereinafter "KMG") should assess their own contribution to improving occupational safety and health, so that accidents and incidents at the workplace are prevented and the highest level of safety and reliability is achieved.
Striving to improve the safety and health of the employees of KazMunayGas and its contractors, and the well-being of local communities, is the foundation of KazMunayGas's long-term business success.
By involving all KazMunayGas employees who share our core values, we strive to develop a culture of occupational safety and health, and to pursue excellence and achievement. To reach these goals, we need your personal commitment and support.
A culture of safety and health always starts with leadership. Leaders, in turn, set an example of this culture for other employees. Leaders also shape the culture by setting requirements, building structures and training others, and they take personal responsibility for the results. This safety culture must be an integral part of every level of management at KazMunayGas. It must be constantly strengthened and improved, and safety and health must take priority over everything else.
Our main goal is to make sure that the employees of KazMunayGas and its contractors return home safe and sound every day. We always work towards our main goal — ZERO HARM.
The concept of a culture of safe behaviour means not only that employees comply with regulatory requirements but also that they accept their own responsibility for doing their work safely.
Our task at this stage is not only to follow formal safety procedures but also to inspire every KazMunayGas employee to improve them.
That is why leadership in safety and occupational health must come not only from senior and middle managers but also from the employees of KazMunayGas and its contractors, using every available means of communication.
Developing a culture of safety and occupational health is an endless process of continuous improvement. There is no room for complacency or overconfidence where safety is concerned. Constantly improving occupational safety and health processes instils discipline and sharpens attention, enabling employees to do everything needed to reach their goals.
Of course, no oil and gas company in the world, KazMunayGas included, can claim to have achieved complete success in this area.
I take this opportunity to thank all employees for their dedication and their invaluable contribution to the future of KazMunayGas as a stable and efficient company, and I wish you and your families safe work and success in 2018.
Yours sincerely,
Sauat Mynbayev
