On 15 April 2026, a new edition of the international standard ISO 14001:2026 was published, replacing ISO 14001:2015. It highlights two priorities: protecting the environment and delivering business results. The updated ISO 14001:2026 is designed to help organisations integrate environmental factors into strategy and operational decisions, improve the effectiveness of environmental management systems (EMS) and strengthen stakeholder trust.

ISO 14001:2026 turns environmental management from a "compliance function" into a strategic operational tool. MEM is therefore revising its development strategy, strengthening its role as KMG's specialised centre of energy expertise and developing strategic initiatives to improve operational resilience and stakeholder trust. For MEM's contractors, this is a signal to prepare systematically: transparent data, formalised procedures, investment in cleaner vehicles and equipment, and readiness for more frequent and more targeted audits.
